ABSTRACT

This study was carried out to analyze corporate planning as a veritable tool for effective management in an organization a study ofselected First Bank Pic Aba, Abia State, Nigeria. The objectives ofthe study were to investigate the impact ofeffective management on organizational performance ofFirst Bank Pic, to ascertain the relationship between corporate management and organization performance, also to examine the role ofcorporate planning in ensuring effective management and to determine the relationship between corporate planning and management effectiveness. Survey method of analysis was adopted for the study. A set of structured questionnaire was used as instrument for data collection and administered to 200 respondent and 104 was dulyfilled and collected randomly using Taro Yamane as a sampling technique. The data was then analyzed using SPSS version. Thefindingsfrom the socio-economic characteristics ofthe respondents showed that First Bank Pic Aba has more female workers than male, this suggeststhat gender biasness may set in during recruitmentrather than skills and other competent criteria. The result also showed that corporate planning, corporate control, budgeting, and internal control are prime drivers of effective management, however, internal control shows a nonsignificant relationship with effective management in First Bank Pic Aba. It was therefore concluded that corporate planning is necessary for the effectiveness and survival of an organization. This study, however, recommends that organizations should accord priority attention to the elements ofcorporate planning
