A Ten Year Survey of Publications Output of Academic Librarians and their Availability in University Libraries in South-East Nigeria :- Chinyere, Okezie A.

Abstract

The study was carried out to determine the publications output of librarians in South east Nigeria over a ten year period, (2002- 2012), and the extent of availability of the publications in academic libraries in SIE Nigeria. Two objectives, two research questions and one null hypothesis were raised to guide the study. The population of the study was 400 librarians in South East Nigeria which was also used purposively as sample. The findings yielded that the size of LIS publications outlets used by librarians in S/E Nigeria within the ten year study period was 145 titles, while the extent of availability of the publications outlets in academic libraries in S/E Nigeria was found to be low at 12.08%. There was 110 association between the size of the publications outlets and the extent of availability of the publications in the relevant libraries.
