Whole Blood Clotting Time Of Fishes (Tilapia, Hetero Branch Us Longifilis And Clarias Gariepinus)
ABSTRACT
This study was carried out to determine the whole blood clotting time of Clarias gariepinus, Heterobranchus iong/Ilis and tilapia fishes using Lee ar1d White method. Also the hematological parameters where analysed which includes Hemoglobin count (HB), White Blood Cell count (WBC), Red Blood Cell count (RBC) and Packed Cell Volume (PCV). The results shows that that Clarias gariepinus has the highest clotting time of 04m1ns:35sec, followed by Heterobranchus longfIlis with the clotting time of 03mins:35sec and Tilapia having the lowest clotting time of 02mins:08sec. The hematological parameter results shows the highest mean value of RBC (2.5±0.02x10 12RBCIL), WBC (1.55±0.U7x109WBC/L) and PCV (37.0±1.41) in Heterobranchus longfihis, with the highest mean value of HB (9.90±0.02g/dl) in Tilapia. The results also shows the lowest mean value of RBC (1.57±0.18x1012RBC/L), WBC (1.33±0.l1x109WBC/L), HB (6.90±0.l4gldl) and PCV (24.3±1. 06) in Ciarias gariepinus. The blood clotting time of Heterobranchus ion gifihis, Claricis gariepinus, and Tilapia has added to the understanding of hemastatics of fishes especially as it relates Heterobranchus ion gifihis, Clarias gariepinus, and Tilapia.
