AJSTRACT

Effective Financial Management has remained a big problem in both small and medium scare business organization in Nigeria The need to handle this prompted this research study on "the Role of H? Accountant in Financial Management of Business Organizations in eria. A case study of Homebased Company Limited Owerri and Imo State. Library Board Owerri. Therefore, the following problems gave rise to this study. The employment of non-professional accountant’s accountants of organization The improper accounting records which exist in many firms and so undermine financial accounting of organizations. Poor financial advice often given to chief executive: of firms; and the poor quality financial planning and implementation, which characterizes the functioning of most organizations' firms. Thus, the purpose/objective of the study includes:- To affirm that every formal and functional organization needs a trained accountant to handle its accounting financial management operations. To identify the place and role of an accountant in the management of firms generally; and financial reporting specifically. To make case for action of enabling enrolment for organizational accountability arid effective financial Management and reporting system. Also, various works of some notable authors like Umnealla G.O, Usanganah H.A., Baggot etc were reviewed in the study. 1owever, the total populations within the survey field were twenty seven in which the researcher used the formula Yaro Tamani to determine the ample size of twenty five. Twenty from lmo State library Board and from Home Base company Owerri. Table and simple percentage due used in presenting and analysis the questionnaires while chi-square statistical techniques were used in testing the hypothesis stated in the study. From the above, the following findings were made: e That there is no significant relationship between professionally trained accountant and non-professional in the effectiveness of financially management of the firm. o That the financial management and accounting problems of organizations are not caused by employment and use of nonprofessional accountants. o That small and medium scale firms in Nigeria fail not because of general issue like government polices, competitions among firms etc. o That professional accountants has meaningful contributions to make in the success and growth of small and medium scale firms not merely the ability and wisdom of the owner and or managers towards this end, the following recommendations were made among others: o That firm should use the service of well trained accountants if they must realize expected financial management. o That no matter the ability, skill and wisdom of a firm's owner/manger, he must intermittently requires financial advice, which only professional accountants can offer. o That for effective financial management in organization, there must be an internal auditor, who would serve as check to the unexpected misconduct inherent in our system. The study was however packaged into five chapters thus: Introduction, Review of related Literature, Methodology, Data Presentation and analysis plus testing of Hypothesis viz the use of chi-square statistical Method. They study ended with summary of Finding Conclusion and Acceptable Recommendations.
