ABSTRACT
Electronic
banking has become an important practice in money deposit banks in Nigeria. The
introduction of this electronic banking was expected to improve banking
efficiency in rendering services to customers, it was in line with this that
the study aimed at examining the impact of electronic ban.king on the
performance of selected money deposit banks in Nigeria. Through the cluster
sampling :echnique data were collected by means of questionnaires from 40
selected money leposit banks officers. The date were anaJyzed and the results
show that banks are tow able to operate effectively and efficiently, so their
transactions were now rocessed faster and conveniently. It also shows that
changing from traditional ranking to the electronic banking has reduced the
risk involved in canying money rom one place to the other by banks and
customers as well. Money deposit banks lectronic banking guidelines are in
lines with the CBN electronic banking aide line. To this end, it is recommended
that the bank information technology tining programme should be encouraged
among the staff of selected money posit banks, necessary legal codes banking
should be established in order to uhance growth of the industry.
