ABSTRACT

The essence of this research study is to evaluate and examine the effect of risk management on the performance of corporate organization using Nigerian bottling company Umuahia as a case study. The researcher was motivated to choose this topic because risk are inherent in virtually all activities of organizations, hence the ability to manage this risks effectively will go along way in enhancing their operational efficiency profitability and strong public confidence. Secondary data was used in order to actualize the objective, in addition questionnaires were distributed as a source of primary data, the information gotten from both data and the researcher in testing the hypothesis and analyzing the research questions chi -square statistical technique was used in testing the hypothesis. Hence the following findings were made there is a significant relationship between organization's profitability and growth in losses through non-performing credits effectiveness of risk management in organizations does depends much on the professional skills and knowledge of risk management officers, the profitability of each organization is affected by fraud and criminal violence and there is a significant and changes government economic policies. Based on the findings some of the recommendations made were, organizations should put in place adequate organizational structure that will define the responsibilities for monitoring and controlling risk, risk management should be a regular item in management meetings agenda to allow for the consideration of exposures and to re-prioritize work in the light of effective risk analysis. The management should ensure that a sizeable proportion of their budget is dedicated or invested in human capital develop n-tent with much emphasis on risk management.
