ABSTRACT
The purpose of the study is to
determine teachers' opinion. ôñ the influence of technology integration in
inclusive education on students' learning in Abia State. Four research
questions and four hypotheses guided the study. The study adopted descriptive
survey design method. The area of study is Abia state. The population of the
study is 8,807 teachers comprising public and private school teachers in Abia
state. The sampling size was 368 teachers. The sampling technique used was
multistage sampling technique. The instrument for data collection was a
researcher made questionnaire titled: Technology Integration and students'
learning questionnaire(TISLQ).The instrument was validated by two lecturers
from Department of Adult and Continuing Education, Curriculum and Instruction
Unit and one lecturer from Department of Science Education, Measurement and
Evaluation Unit, all from Michael Okpara University of Agriculture Umudike. The
reliability of instrument was ascertained through test retest method and
analyzed using Pearson product moment correlation coefficient. The instrument has
a reliability index of 0.81. Mean and standard deviation were used to answer
the research questions and t-test was used to test the hypotheses at 0.05 level
of significance. From the result of the research questions answered and
hypotheses tested, the study showed . moderate influence of technology
integration in inclusive education in Abia state. The result also showed that
challenges facing effective technology integration in Abia State include: poor
maintenance of the available technological materials, poor fimding and lack of
government support, lack of teachers interest and readiness . to use
technological materials in teaching and learning, among others. Based on the
fmdings the researcher recommended among others that: Abia State Government
should properly motivate the teachers to develop positive attitude towards
technology usage in daily classroom activities through regular payment of
salaries and allowances, teachers should be encouraged to attend conferences,
workshop, and seminars.
