ABSTRACT
Technical
evaluation of a cassava pelleting machine was carried out to determine the
machine's peleting efficiency, speeds of operation and moisture content at
which the machine pellets. The machine has a capacity of 318kg/hr of grated
cassava mash. It produced pellets of 2mm, 3mm and 4mm diameters respectively
with pellet lengths of 4cm or more depending on the moisture content of the
grated mash. The machine consists . of a steel cylindrical barrel of 26cm
diameter and 82cm length, enclosing a screw auger of pitch 11cm and pitch screw
diameter of2lcm. the machine is driven by a 3HP geared electric motor. An
average pelleting efficiency of 75.13% was achieved with the machine using
grated mash of 15% moisture and pelleting speed of250rpm
