ABSTRACT
A solar box cooker was fabricated with cheap, available materials such as mild steel for the structure and w indow frame, mirror for the reflection of sun rays into the cooking chamber, glass for the lid. aluminium toil lor reflection within the cooking chamber and aluminium sheet for the absorber. The dimensions for the fabricated solar box cooker were 60cm x 60cm 25cm for the outer box and 50cm x 40cm x 20cm for the inner box. From the result of tests carried out on (he constructed solar box cooker, the cooker recorded an efficiency of 41 6% at an average solar intensity of 500W/m2 for duration of 4 hours. A factorial experiment carried out to determine the effects of mass of water and angle of window inclination at varying levels on the temperature response, showed that their effects on the temperature response on the three days the investigation lasted gave a result of 34.7%. 49.5% and 27 4% respectively
