ABSTRACT
'Ten different varieties of tomato were screened in field experiments in Umudike, for tolerance to wilt diseases during the 1998 wet season. The results showed that all plants wilted and died 4 - 8 weeks after they were transplanted into the field. Vertical sections of wilted plants revealed progressive dark-brown discolouration and some times disinterpration of the pith and xylem tissues. When bits of diseased plant materials were incubated on PDA, organisms obtained included various fuscirium app.
