ABSTRACT
Reinvention
which can also be referred to as 'innovation' is bringing new ideas or
inventions to improve an already existing idea, process or structure. The paper
takes a position that the ability to innovate or in the case of this study,
reinvent is a factor that contributes to the success of an organization. This
position is reached from robust literature review and analysis which revealed
that, in addition to the traditional roles of libraries, they also have a
mission to connect people, inspire ideas, transform lives and create a
conducive library space for effective knowledge transfer. The 2 J" century
library space is both physical and virtual, as well as dynamic and enduring,
and is designed to be used for multiple purposes, including knowledge transfer.
They embrace new information technology and lead the users to explore ii for
research, teaching, learning and Knowledge transfer, which is seen as the
process of transferring knowledge, ideas, skills etc, held by an entity (the
library) into a form that ii can be understood, accessed, absorbed and used by
another entity (the users). The library space plays a very important role in
effective knowledge transfer therefore, the library space should be absolutely
conducive and must be prioritised by the library management. And where it is
lacking in amenities to suit modem trends a total reinvention plan must be put
in place. Hence, the paper provides an explanation of the reinvented library
space and how it reflects on the quality of knowledge transfer of libraries.
