Manufacturing Sector and Nigeria’s Growth: Problems and Prospect:- Ethelbert, Favour C
ABSTRACT
Generally, the manufacturing sector which
plays an important role in a modern economy has many dynamic benefits crucial
for economic transformation is a leading sector in many aspects. With this in
mind, this study examines evaluate manufacturing sector and Nigeria’s growth;
its problems and prospects. We used time series data from 1981 to 2018. The
study adopted the Ordinary Least Square econometric analytical approach in the
estimation and found that manufacturing sector has been weak in influencing
economic growth in Nigeria for the period under study; and also interest rate
has not been significant in directing economic growth. However, the study
recommends that The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) should reassess the policy of
commercial banks regarding financial intermediations to the manufacturing
sector to ensure that there is no policy leakage.
