ABSTRACT
This work establishes the relationship that exist
between incidence and deaths from diseases. In the course of the project, data
on the sufferers of these diseases and the number of deaths that has occurred
for a period of ten years (1991-2000) was collected from the Federal Medical
Centre, Umuahia and was analysed statistically. The chi-square test of normality
was carried out on the data collected, that establish the data was not drawn
from a normally distributed population. Also, the test of constant variance was
conducted which showed that the variance of
incidence is the same as that of death cases. Finally, in the regression
analysis conducted, it was established that the linear regression analysis
provided a good fit to the data. This showed that the two variables were found
to significantly linearly related. Since there is a linearly relationship all
efforts should be on the reduction of infection rate so as to reduce the death
rate.
