ABSTRACT
This study was carried out to assess human
capital investment and economic growth in Nigeria using secondary data
collectedfrom NBS statistical bulletin between 1981 and 2018. 1 he specific
objectives were to; ascertain the relationship between human capital investment
and economic growth in Nigeria, ascertain the causal effect between human capital
investment and economic growth in Nigeria. The Ex-postfacto research design is
usedfor this study. From thefindings of the study, it was observed that there
is an increase in RGDP as a result ofincrease in GEE, GEI1 and GCF within the
years under review. The value of0.864for R-square implies that 86.4% of
variations seen in RGDP is being explained by a combination ofthe regressors
(GEE, GEH and GCF) but after adjusting the degrees offreedom, the variation
reduced to 81.9%>. The study revealed that there is significant relationship
between human capital investment and economic growth in Nigeria. Also, the
study found that there is no causal effect between human capital investment and
economic growth within the years under study. From the findings ofthe study, it
can be concluded that there is significant relationship between human capital
investment and economic growth in Nigeria. The study recommended that
Government should invest more money on Education and healthfor more economic
development.
