Effect Of Financial Meltdown On The Performance Of Nigeria Capital Market:- Akobundu Alwell A.
Abstract
This paper examined the economic
effect offinancial meltdown on the performance ofNigeria capital marketfrom
1981 - 2018. The objectives of the study were to determine the impact of
financial meltdown on the performance ofNigeria capital market. Secondary data
were collected based on the model used in the research work and unit root test
was conducted on the data to test their stationary, after which we performed
co-integration test to analyze the long run relationship among the variables.
The result obtainedfrom our empirical analysis showsfinancial meltdown has a
significant impact on the performance ofNigeria capital market. The study
therefore recommends that there is also need to institute policies that
willfurther increase the value ofmarket transaction in the market. As stated
earlier there is need to remove hindrances on the part of prospective investors
so as to increase both the volume and value oftransactions in the market. An
increase in the value oftransaction will in turn lead to increase in commercial
