ABSTRACT
Genotype x environment interaction in rabbits production: its effect on litter and growth performance was investigated using 92 weaner rabbits of New Zealand White and Chinchilla; 28 NZW x NZW, 20 CHxCH, 24NZW x CH and 20 CH x NZW progenies for the study. The design of the experiment is completely randomized design (CRD) and the experiment lasted for 4weeks. They were fed with concentrate + restricted forage at the ratio of 80:20 and concentrate + daily forage ad/libitum. Data were collected on body weight (BW), heart girth (HG), head to shoulder (HTS), shoulder to tail drop (STTD), length of hind limb (LHL) and ear length (EL). in main effect in genotype, there was significant difference (P<0.05) in all measured parameters except in LHL8 and 9, also ear length showed no significant difference (P<0.05). New Zealand White had the highest value(549.32±5.26). There were significant differences (P<0.05) in all parameters considered in main effect of feed type(610.11±7.82) and the result showed that anima1s placed on concentrate + daily forage performed better. However, for the interaction there was significant difference (P<0.05) only on body weight (BWT8 and 9), 560.36 +5.49 and 639.29 ± 5.18 respectively and length of hind limb (LHL9), 15.96± 0.26
