Factors Influencing The Quantity Of Noodles Marketed By Trades In Umuahia North Local Government Area Of Abia State
ABSTRACT
Demand is one of the forces that make market economics work.
It determines the quality of goods produced and most a times the price at which
it will be sold. Demand reflects the issue of choice due to resources
allocation in microeconomics. This study focuses on the influence factors on
quantity of noodles marked in Umuahia north. To identify the major factors that
influence quantity demanded and the market share of the different brands of
noodles were the major objective of this study. In order to achieve this
mandate, the study adopted a multistage sampling technique, which was employed
in the selection of location and respondents. Descriptive statistics and linear
regression were the tools of analysis adopted for the study. The result of this
analysis showed that price, income, education, number of staff and location
were statistical significant and therefore influence quantity demanded. More so
discovered that indomie instant noodles is the most demanded of all noodles in
the study area. It commands more than 35% of the total market share of the
study area. Also that majority of the businesses are small business entities.
Therefore, the work suggest that producers should ensure that there products
are widely available to consumers.
