Factors Affecting The Success And Failures Of Hotel In Nigeria (A Case Study Of Imo Concord Hotel, Owerri And Novotel Port Harcourt Accor, River State)
ABSTRACT
The recent failure of hostels in Nigeria is becoming
alarming and this prompted the researcher to find out factors affecting the
success and failure of hotels in Nigeria and how to stop such failure and
revive the dying ones. Novotel Portharcourt and Imo concord hotel were used for
the survey, one hundred and four questionnaires were distributed to the staff
(respondents) but only 80 (eighty) were recovered and Chi-square was used in
analyzing and interpreting the data. It was also observed that most of the
hotels fail as a result of inadequate skilled man power slow to solving or
attending to problems facing the hotel 4 industry and lack of attention being
paid to quality products and service being rendered. More so, non-indigenes
should be allowed to manage hotels since they have the best skills and
management knowhow in hotel business.
