ABSTRACT
The high burdens of CDV in the developing countries are attributed to the increasing incident of atherosclerotic disease, urbanization and higher risk factor levels such as obesity, diabetes, and hypertension. A large body of studies in experimental animals has clearly demonstrated that the common risk factor for cardiovascular disease is hypercholesterolemia. Therefore, treatment of hypercholesterolemia may reduce the risk or development of cardiovascular disease. Nevertheless, there has been conflicting reports on the effect of high cholesterol diet on serum biochemical parameters related to hepatic function (ALP, AST, and ALT). Some reported on the etTects of hypercholesterolernia on serum level of the above enzymes. Evaluating the effect of quail egg on biochemical parameters (ALT. ALP., AST) of albino rats investigated the effect of quail egg liquid content on some biochemical enzymes like Aspartate aininotrasferase (AST), Alkaline phosphate (ALP), Alanine transferase (ALT) r of matured albino rats. 25 rats were grouped into 5 cages. Each group consisting of 5 male rats. Group I were administered standard drug simvastatin 40mg per body weight of rat, Group 2, 3,4, were orally administered 0.5-l.5m1s of liquid content of quail egg all for I4days. Blood samples were collected three consecutive times at weekly intervals on day (0, 7, 14 ) for normal lipid profile test through ocular puncture to evaluate the activity of the biochemical enzymes. There was no significant (p>O.O5) difference between the serum levels of biochemical parameters ALT, ALP of various mIs of cjail egg administered to rats. However AST serum level was significantly (p>O.OS) lowered. Therefore the quail egg possesses properties that can be beneficial' in management of myocardial infarction.
