ABSTRACT
Sweet potato grows on a wide range of soil even with wide variation in nutrient content. However, where general crop yields are low for reasons of natural infertility, the yields of unfertilized sweet potato plots will also be low. The need to make soils more productive and more sustainable has necessitated the judicious use of fertilizers.Besides, the extravagant use of fertilizers may result in a dangerous situation as regards minor elements through a combination of large fertilizer application and more intensive cropping, thus increasing the rate of removal of trace elements. This could result to depletion of essential elements to the extent that yield would be limited (Weiss, 1983).
