ABSTRACT
Eleven Okra parents comprising of two
day-sensitive West African types; A. Caillei, two N1HORT registered lines (NHAe
47-4 and LD 88-1) and seven other day neutral common Okra types; A. esculentus
were cultivated and subjected to field crosses in all possible directions. The
breeding was done in the early and late cropping seasons of 2013, 2014 and 2015
in NIHORT Out-Station in Mbato Okigwejmo State. Several yield characters were
monitored as well as reactions to insect infestation. The data were subjected to
ANOVA Means Separation using LSD at 5% levels. The result showed no significant
(p <0.05) variation for growth and yield parameters amongst these Okra
genotypes.
