ABSTRACT

The study focuses  on  the  effects of  liquidity  management   in  the profitability   of manufacturing   firms   in  Nigeria.    The  problem    of   the  study   is  to  know   the significance   of  liquidity  management   in  the profitability   of manufacturing firms. The  main  objective   of  the  study   is  to  determine   the  extent   to  which  liquidity management    affects   the  profitability    of  Nestle   Nigeria   Pie.    The   researcher employed   ex-post  facto    research   design,    secondary   data   was   employed   and multiple  regression  model was adapted.  The population  for this study was obtained from   the  annual  report   and financial   summary   of  Nestle  ·Nigeria   Pie.  between 2012-2016    i.e  5(fi.ve)  years period   The study adopted  the empirical  methodology

framework.   The findings  revealed  that there exist a very high relationship  between current  ratio and the various  dependent  variables  i. e Return  on Assets,  Return   on Equity  and  Profit  afier  Tax.  Therefore  the  researcher   concludes   that  there  is a positive     and    significant     relationship     between    liquidity    management     and profitability    of   manufacturing    firms   in   Nigeria.     The   researcher    therefore recommends   that  adequate   investment   analysis,  which  has  the  benefit  of sieving out  unprofitable    investments    and   even  avoiding   unnecessary    taking   of  risks, thereby  increasing   the profitability   of  the  manufacturing  firms  in Nigeria.     171e researcher    also   recommends    that   engagement    of   competent    and   qualified personnel   with  adequate  knowledge   and  experience   in  liquidity   management   lo enable  effective  decision  Making so as to enable  the manufacturing firms meet  up with  their short term obligation  as at when due.
