Effect Of Petroleum Profit Tax On Economic Development In Nigeria
ABSTRACT
The study focused on petroleum profit tax and economic growth in Nigeria. The
specflc objectives are to examine the effect ofpetroleum profit tax on gross domestic
product in Nigeria, and to ascertain the effect of petroleum profit tax on inflation
rate in Nigeria. the researcher used secondary source of data in obtaining all the
data needed for the study. The findings were discussed in line with the hypothesis
test, in line with the first specflc objectives which was set to examine the effect of
petroleum profit tax on gross domestic product on Nigeria while the second specflc
objective which was set to examine the effect ofpetroleum profit tax on total revenue
in Nigeria. the summary offindings showed that petroleum positive tax has apositive
relationship and signflcantly effects GDP in Nigeria but it does not significantly
affect total revenue in Nigeria.
