Abstract

The study is on the effect of performance appraisal on workers productivity. The study specifically looked at the socio economic characteristics of employees in PZ, knowledge of appraisal system and its frequency among employees, the effects of performance appraisal on workers productivity, relevance of performance approval system in identifying employee strength and weakness and the perception of employees on appraisal process. Primary data was used in this study, 120 respondents were randomly selected for study. Data allocation was carried and by the use of structured questionnaire. Data were analyzed using means percentages. frequency distribution, regression and 5 point like scale. The result showed that majority of the respondents was males. educated and acquired ring practical knowledge. More so majority of the respondents had a good knowledge of appraisal system. Furthermore, majority of the respondents indicated different periods of appraisal exercise. There is a significant effect of performance appraisal on productivity (employee). More so, performance appraisal is relevant in the identification of employees strength and weakness. Finally majority of the respondents had positive perception on performance appraisal process. In recommendation. PZ Management should regularly carry out appraisal exercise in order to enjoy greater workers productivity. PL management should always give feed backs to their workers after the appraisal in order to be able to get workers inputs in the subsequent exercise.
