ABSTRACT

The essence of this work is to find out the effect of Monetization Policy on the productivity of Public Servants. To carry out this research, the Nigerian Prison Service, Umuahia, Abia State was used as a Case Study. Public Servants are machinery through which Government of a Country Execute its Policies and the effectiveness and efficiency of any government is measured through its work force. Consequently, Government from time to time comes up with policies that will make its work-force effective and efficient productive. And one of these policies is this monetization policy which has been introduced to enhance the standard of living of Public Servant and their productivity. The aim of this study among other things is to find out whether this policy has affected the productivity of public servant positively. 1n carrying out this research, some review of existing literature was made as it would help in achieving the research objectives — Monetization and improved productivity were included in the literature review. In order to conduct a successful research, a careful selection and collection of data was employed in which the staff of Nigeria Prison Service. Umuahia as a Case Study were asked to fill some questionnaires The analysis of the respondent view was classified in simple percentage to find out the, majority opinion. From the analysis, it was observed Government has not implement the policy fully but all the same extent it has gone so far as improved the productivity in Public Service. The research offers some recommendation on things that can make the policy achieve its aim. Finally some pieces of advice were offered to subsequent scholars who might wish to conduct research on this Topic.
