Effect Of Hydro-Ethanolic Extract Amaranhus Hybridus On Liver Marker Ensy,Es In Thioacetamide Intoxicated Wistar Albino Rats
ABSTRACT
This study was undertaken to investigate the protective activity of Amaranlus hybridus against thioacetamide (TAA)-induced liver injury. Hydro-ethanolic extract of A marantus hybridus leaves were administered to three groups of thioacetamide intoxicated wistar albino rats at doses of 100mg/kg 200mg/kg and 400mg//kg and three control group (Normal control: not induced and not treated, Positive control: induced and treated with silymarin and Negative control: induced and not treated). At the end of 9 weeks (63 days) the blood sample were collected through ocular puncture, and biochemical analysis of Serum test (Alanine aminotransferase (ALT),Aspartate aminotransferase (AST) and (ALP) Alkaline phosphatase) were estimated. Result showed that TAA significantly (p<O.05) increased level of (ALT, AST, ALP). The hydro alcohol extract of Amaranthus hybridus also showed hepatoprotective activity on liver marker enzyme damaged by thioacetamide (TAA) by significantly decreasing the value of ALT, AS, ALP in test group when compared to the negative control.
