Effect Of Hydro-Ethanol Extract Of Aniaranlizus Izybridus On Liver Histology And Body Weight Changes Of Thioacetamide Intoxicated Rats
ABSTRACT
The study investigated the effect of effect of hydro-alcohol extract of Amaranthus hybridus on weight and liver architecture of thioacetamide induced hepatotoxicity. Six groups of animals were used with six rats in each group: The control sets were made up of positive, negative and normal while test groups were treated with 100mg/kg, 200mg/kg and 400mg/kg body weight of Amaranthus hybridus. The administration of the Amaranthus hybridus extract was orally at single doses per day for nine (9) consecutive weeks. Treatment with TAA showed evident signs of injuries to the liver, and reduced animal weight. Those treated with Amaranthus hybriduv extract gained weight compared to those without treatment.
