ABSTRACT

The study investigated the effect of fiscal policies on economic and infrastructural development in Nigeria. To achieve this objective, the study specifically investigated the effect of fiscal proxies  (government  revenue,  government  expenditure, and  government  debt)  on  gross domestic product per capita, availability of electricity and access to pure drinking water, which are proxies for economic and infrastructural development in Nigeria. The study restricted its scope to the period 2000-2017 and data used for the study were obtained from the central bank ofNigeria (CBN) statistical bulletin and World Bank official websites. The multiple regression method was employed as the analytical tool. Findings show that all the proxies for fiscal policy jointly have positive and significant effect on economic and infrastructural development in Nigeria. So, it was concluded that government fiscal policy thirsts is paramount to enhance economic and infrastructural development in Nigeria. This study recommends that effective and problem solving fiscal policy should be adopted by government of Nigeria at all times because it has been found in this work that fiscal policy are capable of influencing the economic growth.
