ABSTRACT

This research work examine the impact of computer technology on accounting system and its effect on organizational performance with particular reference to a study of A.g. Leventis pie and Pak-microcomputers international ltd. The statement of problem of this study is therefore to find out whether or not the introduction of computer technology to accounting sections at A.G. Leventis Plc and Pak - Micro computer center. The main objective is to evaluate the impact of computer technology on accounting system and its effect on organizational performance while the first and second specific objectives are to evaluate the impact of computer technology on accounting system of organizations in Nigeria and to determine the impact of computer technology on productivity of organization in Nigeria respectively. The null hypotheses was also tested which states that introduction of computer technology has no significant impact on accounting system of organization in Nigeria and the second hypothesis states that there is no significant impact of computer technology on performance of organization in Nigeria. The population size is thirty (30) while the sample size is twenty eight (28). The data were collected using primary data. The primary data was collected by the use of questionnaires. Data from responses in questionnaire was analyzed using tables, simple percentages and the ordinary least squares based simple regression to evaluate the relationship of the variables. From the analysis, the findings showed that there is an effect of computer technology on accounting system in organizations in Nigeria. And also that the effect in which computer technology has on organizational performance in Nigeria is significant. It was however recommended  that  the  management and  staff of A.G  Leventis Plc  and Pak-Micro Computers International  Ltd  should  ensure  that  they  make  use  of  application  of  computer technology in such a way that they will yield a positive effect on the accounting system in the organization.
