Effect Of Capital Budgeting On The Performance Of Firms In Nigeria (A Study Of Nigeria Breweries PLC)
ABSTRACT
The study investigated the effect of Capital Budgeting on performance offirms in
Nigeria. The major objectives of the study are to examine the effect of capital
budgeting on profit after tax offirms in Nigeria, to determine the effect of capital
budgeting on return on asset offirms in Nigeria. To achieve the objectives of the
study, ex post facto research design was adopted The researcher adopted
secondary data in getting the required information. In testing the hypotheses,
simple regression analysis was used. The findings revealed that Investment in fixed
assets has significant effect on profit after tax offirms in Nigeria. The findings also
revealed that there is positive direct relationship between return on assets and
investment in non-current assets offirms in Nigeria and investment in fixed assets
has significant effect on return on assets of firms in Nigeria. The researcher
recommends that Management offirms should pay critical attention on Investment
in fixed assets because it has significant effect on profit after tax and Management
should seek to be train on the various tools use in selecting competing multi-period
projects. The researcher also recommends that firms in Nigeria should take capital
budgeting as their priority in order to achieve their goals and objectives.
