ABSTRACT

The objective of this research work is to determine if the number of kids a goat has at birth depends on its weight and age. The method of statistical analysis used here are regression and correlation as applied in the multivariate case. Data for forty (40) female goats were randomly selected from Michael Okpara University of Agriculture School farm. Due to shortage of time, secondary data had to be used. The data were analysed using multivariate analysis techniques. From the results, it was established that age and weight of female goats have significant effect on the number of kids produced at birth. Since it was established that the number of kids produced at birth depends on the weight and age of the mother. emphasis should be laid on how to attain to that weight and age where the maximum number of kids is obtained.
