ABSTRACT
The project presents the design and construction of a two
way station intercom system. It provides a system for easy and reliable
communication within a relatively small area such as buildings, offices and
residence. The method used in the design of the intercom system involves; the
provision of power supply unit which has the capacity to provide the electrical
power needed by the intercom system, the pre-amplifying unit that boosts the
weak audio signal from the microphone and processes the signal without
degradation, its output serves as input to LM380 power amplifier which -
further amplifies the signal. It incorporates a transducer which converts sound
energy to electrical energy and vice versa. The project was tested within a
distance of l5meters and found to posses high efficiency. The result of this
test between the users at the master station and the slave station revealed
that the intercom system can be used satisfactorily for the exchange of
information in two ways.
