Computerization Of The Accounting System Of Companies In Nigeria: Problems And Prospects (A Study Of Selected Companies)
ABSTRACT
The
study examines the computerization of the accounting system of companies in Nigeria.
No business establishment or organization whether private or public can survive
without paying attention to its environment. Today the world is now a
"Global village" where the computer has become a vital instrument in
the day to day running of an organization. Vast sources of information can now
be accessed through the computer via the internet. Computerization of the
accounting system of company is a vital tool for the efficient and effective
running of the business. The objective of this study is to access the problem
and prospect of computerized accounting. The survey data were gathered from 40
respondents. All hypotheses were tested using chi-square, the findings of the
research are (1) there is a significant relationship between information Technology
and good book keeping in the sampled companies (2) computerization of
accounting system is a positive influence on good accounting process (3) the
compensation package increases performance in output of the Computerized
accounting of the selected companies. The computerization of the accounting has
been taken to be a technological breakthrough in the field of management
sciences, computerization has made a tremendous impact on the accounting
operation of an organization by influencing service, cost, profitability and information
provision
