ABSTRACT

Secondary data collected from 1991 census report for Abia State was used for thisn study. The report contains the summary of the population distribution of Abia State presented as "Abia State Statistical Tables". The ultimate objective is to obtain a result which could be relevant in planning for housing and implementation of household economic behaviour and its link to policy. Simple statistical measures like proportions and percentages were used to determine the characteristics of Abia households population. Chi-square test was also used to determine the relationship between membership status and household population characteristics. However, the results of the ahalysis show that membership status in Abia households depend on characteristics.
