Body Changes In The Doe During The First And Second Trimesters Of Pregnancy:- Ukeje, Mary C.
ABSTRACT
Body changes
in seven doe (goat) during the first and second trimesters were studied. The
animals were grouped into pregnant and non pregnant doe. The study lasted for
fifteen weeks and the changes examined included. Body weight (BW), Abdominal
diameter (AD), circumference of vulva (CV), length for vulva (LV), length of
teat (LT) and circumference of udder' (CU). Results showed that the body weight
(BW), Abdominal diameter (AD) circumference of udder (CU) and length of teat
(LT) made significantly changes during pregnancy. It was then concluded that
these parameters could form basis ·for diagnosing pregnancy in the doe in the
absence of chemical tests.
