Availability and Accessibility of Information
Resources by undergraduate students ofLibrary and Information Science was
investigated and analyzed in order to determine amongst other variables the
types ofinformation resources available in MOUAULibrary, the level
ofaccessibility, challenges encountered by undergraduate students under study
in their information seeking behavior and proffer solutions to them. The study
was conducted between July and October 2018. The survey research method was
adopted because ofthe need to collect data from respondents using random
sampling techniques to select the actual respondentsfor the study while the
design was a case study. The study population was One Hundred and Thirty-Four
(134) which represents 20% of the entire population under study. The major
instrumentfor data collection was questionnaire, complemented witl^ documentary
sources. One Hundred and Thirty-Four (134) well-structured'questionnaires were
administered to 134 undergraduates of LIS and 120 representing 89.6% were
retrieved and analyzed using descriptive statistics such as mean, standard
deviations and frequency table. Results ofanalysis reveal among other things
that all the items such as textbooks, journals, project works, newspapers,
dictionaries, encyclopedia, magazines, CD ROMS and index/abstracts are
available in the library in varying range with textbooks, journals and project
works ranking highest and are been accessed at a high rate. It is recommended
among other things that there should be provision of adequate relevant and
up-to-date information resources in MOUAU Library, there should be further
related research in this area under study tofurther improve access to library
resources in MOUAU Library, Purpose driven and participatory user education is
conducted to ensure purpose driven access to the information resources ofthe
library as solution to the challenges encountered and as a v.oferduanainzthe
lots ofthe library under study
