ABSTRACT
This study assessed attitudes of
students and lecturers towards blended learning in public universities in
Southeast, Nigeria. The study adopted survey designed. The population consisted
of 5789 students and lecturers in public universities that run education
programs in Southeast Nigeria. Three universities that run education programmes
were purposively selected from 10 public universities in South East. From each
ofthe three universities, sample size of 200 students and 30 lecturers were
selected by multi-stage random sampling technique. The instrument used for data
collection were questionnaire titled Students Attitude Towards Blended Learning
Questionnaire (SAQ) and lecturers attitude towards Blended Learning
Questionnaire (LAQ) and made up of 20 items using 4-points modified scale and
validated by three experts in the department of Science Education, Michael
Okpara University ofAgriculture, Umudike. The instruments were subjected to
test-retest method ofreliability with coefficients ofr = 0.85 for SAQ and 0.89
for LAQ. All the research questions were analyzed using mean and standard
deviation while t-test statistic was employed in testing hypothesis. The
results revealed that both students and lecturers have positive attitudes
towards blended learning. There was no significance difference between students
and lecturers attitudes towards blended learning. It was recommended that
education policy makers especially the National University Commission should
integrate the use ofblended learning into teachers’ education curriculum.
