ABSTRACT
Education
remains an instrument per excellence for achieving rapid socioeconomic
development of any nation. It is an instrument for achieving sustainable human
and capital development, as it is also the bedrock of the sustainable
development of Nigeria. Education provides the citizens of any nation with
adequate skills for effective living and effective contribution to the
development of her society. Education is the process of facilitating
learning or the acquisition of knowledge, skills, values, belief and habits for
an effective functioning and productivity of the individual towards national
development. For education to be an effective instrument for rapid development
of the individual for in building a strong and vibrant economy of any nation,
it must be one that is very functional and productive. In
Nigeria today, functional and productive education is seen as the most likely
means of getting to the top hierarchy in any endearvour.
