Application Of Cost Accounting To Management Planning And Decision Making (A Study Of Nigerian Bottling Company Aba, Abia State)
ABSTRACT
This study examined the application of cost accounting to management planning and decision making. The specific objectives are; to determine the effect of cost accounting on management planning, to evaluate the effect of cost accounting on management decision making and to determine the effect of cost accounting in management control. To achieve the objectives of the study survey research design was adopted. The study adopted primary data through the use of well structured. The population of the study is made of 90 respondents while sample size is 7 4 after adopting Taro Yamane formula. To test the hypotheses, Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coefficient was used. The findings revealed that cost accounting ~as a significant effect on management planning and decision making. The findings also revealed that Cost accounting has a significant effect on management control. The study recommends that every company and establishment must regularly watch its· cost so as to remain afloat in business. The study also recommends that serious management should endeavor to demonstrate actions on controlling costs if they want their employees to follow suit. It is also advisable for the management of every organisation to build an expense control culture that will recognise and reward employees among others, who figure out ways to control costs and improve profitability.
