ABSTRACT
The antimicrobial sensitivity pattern\resistance of E.coli
isolates from poultry was investigated. Four different samples (the feacal,
cloacal, intestinal fluids, and hand wash water) were used for this study. 10
samples each were analyzed. Of all samples intestinal fluid had the highest
prevalence of ((100%), followed by feacal sample (80%). The least was cloacal
sample (60%). Of the antibiotics used (Ofloxacin, Amoxycillin, Augmentin,
Tetracycline, Erythromycin, Cephalexin, Nitrofurantoin, and Co-trirnaxazole),
all the E.coli isolates were sensitive to Ofloxacin and they showed 100%
resistance to Augmentin and Amoxycillin. All the E.coli isolates were resistant
to at least one antimicrobial agent. The result shows the urgent need for
control of the use of antimicrobials in poultry husbandry.
