Analysis Of Factors Affecting Loan Default Among Selected Poultry Farmers In Imo State
ABSTRACT
This study analyzed the factors
affecting loan default among policy, farmers in Imo State. A total of 108 poultry
farmers were randomly sampled from the study area. Chi-square was used to
analyze the factors affecting loan default among poultry farmers, and their
socio-economic characteristic. We found out that majority of the farmers in the
study area are educated and source the credit from formal financial
institutions. Results from the chi-square revealed that types of management
adopted significantly influence default in loan repayment, age of the farmers.
Significantly influence default in loan repayment while educational level and
income of the farmers also significantly influence default in loan repayment.
In the final analysis, it was recommended that the terms of loan acquisition
and repayment should he improved so that there can be a steady flow of credit
in the poultry enterprise to ensure its posterity.
