ABSTRACT

The study examines open science andgender equity-: promoting inclusivity, and diversity qiyf-f - ;, : - research among librarians in-Nigeria with a\pqrticularfocus oq inclusivity anddjivdrsity^'’>' in research. The study explores four key objectives and four research questions. A  descriptive survey research design was employedforthe study. Thepopulation ofthe study . 7r < consists of300 librarians, including scholars and other research professionals. Since the total population was manageable, a census sampling technique was used to determine a sample size of300for the study. A structured questionnaire was usedfor data collection. Data collected were analyzed using descriptive statistics, including frequency and mean scores. The findings reveal among others that several challenges in promoting gender equity in research, alongside effective strategiesforfostering inclusivity and diversity. The also recommended among others that Governments, academic institutions, and research organizations should develop and enforce policies that promote gender equity in open science through the organization of face-to-face programmes activities by including mandatory gender-inclusive research practices, funding gender-sensitive studies, and ensuring equal opportunities for women and marginalized groups in scientific research.
