The Triplex Agenda Of Food Engineering In Leveraging Challenges Of Consumers Avarice And Food Security:- Udochukwu Nelson Onwuka
ABSTRACT
Nigeria as of today cannot only
be said to be in recession but facing hyperinflation and serious or more than
serious food security challengers. Our oil blessing have over the years being
described as oil doom instead of boom and before now we recall one time head of state stated that our
problem was not money but where to spend it and that was then, but today we
sell oil in the ground before extraction and that is the irony of life. He who
fail to plan, has planned to fail. Nigeria has failed to translate her blessing
into progress but facing a situation which Ross (2012) referred to as a Dutch
disease. Our situation has surpassed a recession but hyper depression. These
situations have link with food insecurity and poverty. Prices of Agricultural
commodities have increased more than 10 times within the last 5 years, so much
decline in industrial activities as result of insecurity and others.
Our safest heaven is still going
back to where we have comparative advantage (Agriculture). It is even sadder to
note that in the midst of the low Agricultural activities, the little proceeds
are left to rot due to inadequate science and technology of processing and
preservation.
