ABSTRACT

 This topic has been carefully and purposely chosen to bring the researcher closer to the role of Cost Accounting in measuring the performance of manufacturing companies in Nigeria, its problems and equally find solution to these problems that hinders the performance of manufacturing companies in Nigeria. The main problem that led to this research study was to examine whether there is a significant role Cost Accounting plays in the measuring the performance of manufacturing companies in Nigeria. Therefore, it is very necessary that an efficient and effective costing system is used in determining and assigning price to firm’s products. Chapter one covers the background of the study, the potential scope of the study, the objective and problems of the study. The second chapter dwells on review of related literature. The third chapter and fourth chapter deals with research methodology, method of data analysis gathering, and the information collected. Chapter five is centered on summary of findings, conclusion and recommendation. This project is meant for all government parastatals, institution of higher learning, accounting student and the general public. It is aimed at giving the various usher and readers a bird eyes view concerning the cost accounting as a tool for measuring the performance in the manufacturing companies; however the project is based on the scope coverage and materials available.
