The Potential Of Local Spices: Monodora myristica (Ehuru), Zinqiber officinale (Ginger), And Cocos nucifera (Copra Spice) On The Utilization Of Sundried Cassava Peel Meal- Based Diet By Weaner Rabbit.
ABSTRACT
Sixteen (16) Newzealand white x chinchilla weaner rabbits
averaging 0.79kg in weight and aged between 7 and 8 weeks were randomly divided
into four groups of four (4) animals per treatment. Four experimental diets
were randomly assigned to four treatment groups. The diets were a control A — a
normal weaner ration compounded from: cassava peel meal (CPM), maize offal,
Soya bean, fishmeal, oyster shell, bone meal, palm oil, salt and vitamin
premix; and B, C, and D in which 2% of Monodora myristica (Ehuru), Ginqer
officinale and copra spice were incorporated in the CPM based diets
respectively. The protein (%) and energy (Kcal ME) contents of the diets were
16.26, 2413.74; 16.25, 2478.26; 16.31,2443.74; 16.16; 2498.54 for diets A,B,C
and D respectively. Average daily feed intake, average daily body weight gain,
feed conversion ratio, economy of weight gain, carcass characteristics and
haemamatological studies were evaluated. Results indicated that dietary
