The purpose of this study is to articulate the level of information literacy skills among Library and Information Science students in MOUA U, to determine those factors that militate against the acquisition of information literacy by US students in MOUA U, to outline the methods of inculcating information literacy programmes among US students in MOUA U The research design for this study is descriptive survey. The population of this study is 313 and the sample size is 176 which were determined using the Taro Yamanne (1969) method. The instrument used for the study is questionnaire. Frequency tables mean scores, and standard deviations using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) were used to analyse the data. The findings reveal that the level of information literacy skills among US students is low. The findings also revealed that though students need IL skills, factors such as lack of understanding of IL by lecturers and administrators, no space in the curriculum for IL skills, inadequate commitment shown by institutions, inadequate funds and confusion of IL skills with ICT competence militate against the acquisition of IL skills by US students in MOUA U However, methods such as training sessions, incorporating IL skills into the academic curricula, collaboration between teaching and library staff etc. were identfled for inculcating IL programmes among US students. Recommendations such as provision of adequate funds, integrating IL training into the academic curricula, adequate and continuous orientation eW. were projected. The research concludes that if these recommendations are put in place, students' level of IL skills will improve thereby enhancing academic performance.
