The Effect Of Diet Supplemented With Citric Acid On Broiler Performance:- Effiong, Angela O.
ABSTRACT
The experiment was conducted to determine the
performance of broiler fed with supplementation of citric acid at different
levels. There were four experimental diets {T1 (control), T2(0.25 CA),
T3(0.5%CA) and T4 (0.75%CA)}.each treatment replicated three times with 10
birds per replicate giving total of 120 birds , which lasted fcr 56 days. The
experimental design was completely randomized design (CRD). The parameters measured
were live weight gain, feed intake, feed conversion ratio mortality and feed
cost. Result showed that there were no significant (p>0.05) difference in
the weight gain and feed conversion ratio. There were significant p (<0.05)
difference among the treatment means for daily feed . intake and mortality. The
mortality was higher in control compared to those fed with supplementation of
citric acid. For economic of diet, the values for the gross margin were
(N1081.99), (N1335.13), (N1126.69), (£4928.18) treatment 2 and 3 had the east
cost per kg weight, highest revenue and gross margin making diet supplemented
with citric acid to be economically viable.
