ABSTRACT

This study aims at evaluating the role of accounting information in  management decision  making  in  some  selected  companies.   This was  d·!>ne  under the following speci(ic objectives: to find out how accounting informalion can help in providing eccountinq data for preparing financial statement and reports; to findout if proper accounting information can help these selectecl  firms achieve efficiency; to determine whether effective accounting information measure has been taken or is  carried out to prevent the occurrence of  v ,rong decision• making; and to ascertain whether organization make use of accounting information in the business operations.  Structured research ouostionneire wasdesigned and administered on 78 randomly selected responaems from three companies in Warri, Delta State, Nigeria. The methods of data analysis includedtables, simple percentage and chi-square statistical tecnniuue. From the analytical result, the following findings were made: Accounting information can help in providing accounting data for preparing financial stetemem and reports  of the companies. That proper accounting information helped Data SciencesNigeria Limited, Cakasa Nigerian Company Limited and Air Liqu. 'd ·Nigeria Pie toachieve effectiveness and efficiency in decision making in accordance. with the responses from the respondents. The companies make accounting informationavailable to all the staff members of the company as a meesure been taken toprevent   the   occurrence   of   wrong   decision-making.   It   was   thereforerecommenced that Companies should consult professional eccoument whenstarting ~ business to leam about the .various laws . that affect them and also tofamiliarise themse(ves with the variety of financial records that /.hey ·will neea to

maintain.
