ABSTRACT

Water samples from Anya River were analysed for a period of three months (August — October) in order to determine levels of some physicochemical parameters and heavy metal pollutants. Lead has a mean value of 0.19± 0.27 mg/L which exceeds the WHO (1984) maximum permissible level (0.O5mg/L). cadmium ;as the mean value of 0.5± 0.03 mglL. Dissolved oxygen (DO) (9.25± 2.32mgIL) falls within the maximum permissible level (9.2 mg/L).
