ABSTRACT

The demand for protein especially of animal origin has been shown. to be of great importance in the diet of man. The Consumption of animal protein in Nigerian has remained low partly due to income of most citizens of the country and high cost of animal protein. This could he ameliorated by intensive animal production. However, The major factor militating against intensive animal production in Nigeria is the high • cost of feed. and feed stuff like soybean cake, maize and groundnut cake. This call for a need to explore the use of alternative feedstuff that is cheaper and locally available/accessible to replace the costly conventional feedstuffs The use of agro- industrial by-products in feed ieduces thL cost of feed as they attract little pricing (Onyimonyi, 2003) One of such readily available agio • industrial by-product in Nigeria is bambara groundnut offal.
